Jocelyn Holt

Jocelyn Holt is studying the role mutualisms and genetics play in facilitating invasive species establishment success. Jocelyn is currently a Ph.D. student in the Medina lab investigating the internal bacterial composition or microbiome of sugarcane aphids (Melanaphis sacchari, SCA) and assessing the population genetic structure of another invasive pest the tawny crazy ant (Nylanderia fulva, TCA). Examining both microbes and genetics will provide a foundation for understanding what facilitates pest outbreaks.
