Welcome to the Nineteenth Graduate Student Forum! The Forum was created by Dr. Patricia Pietrantonio and it is a dedicated day for grad students. The purposes of this event are to encourage graduate students to share with colleagues and others in the academic community, to provide professional development experience for students, and to allow students to practice their presentation skills. Also, the Forum is an opportunity to interact with fellow entomologists, to engage in discussion about different research topics and to learn about new techniques, interesting hypotheses, and novel approaches.
Twenty years later, I can only say “success!” I have been involved in the Forum for quite some time. I have had the opportunity to witness students present year after year, see them improve and become great speakers. Also, I am very proud of the student’s involvement. However, one of the downsides of such success is that not every student can present. I apologize to those of you who were not chosen this year.
If you are an incoming graduate student, this is an opportunity to meet your peers and seniors. Learn from them to make your graduate years in TAMU as enjoyable as possible. And start getting ready; chances are you will be up there next year!
