Research Emphasis: Systematics of parasitic Hymenoptera, particularly Encyrtidae, Aphelinidae, and Signiphoridae. Biological control of Homoptera using parasitoids.

Teaching and Research Activity: Research on systematics of Chalcidoidea emphasizes descriptive taxonomy and revisionary study, analysis of phylogenetic relationships and classification of genera, tribes and subfamilies, comparative morphology, and biosystematics of selected complexes of species of particular importance to biological control. Interested also in the characterization of biological diversity, particularly Hymenoptera, and development of systematics collections.

Teaching activities include ENTO 301, Biodiversity and Biology of
Insects , ENTO 601, a graduate course on the principles and methods
of systematic zoology, ENTO 606, a graduate course on computer
methods for phylogenetics research, and a summer course in Field and
Tropical Biology taught on the island of Dominica, West Indies,
through the Study Abroad Program.
