Professional Summary

Pascal Mahukpe Ayelo graduated PhD in Entomology (chemical ecology) in 2021 from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and previously worked at the international centre of insect physiology and ecology (icipe) in Kenya. He received the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) In-Country/In-Region Scholarship award for his PhD studies. Since January 2023, Ayelo serves as a postdoctoral research associate in the department of Entomology at Texas A&M University where his research interests lie in the fields of insect chemical ecology, biological control and integrated pest management (IPM). His works involve the use of behavioral and chemical tools to: i- identify the bioactive compounds that mediate insect choices and interactions in multi-trophic systems (microbes-plants-herbivores-natural enemies), and ii- understand how insects detect and process the bioactive compounds. The aim is to develop environmentally friendly methods to contribute to IPM for sustainable agriculture.
