Professional Summary
Brandon Lyons, Ph.D. is an Assistant Research Scientist at Texas A&M AgriLife Research within the Department of Entomology. His research interests are in the field of veterinary and livestock entomology. This field involves the study of arthropod pests that vector disease agents to livestock, poultry, wildlife and pets that affect their health and well-being. The research conducted by Dr. Lyons involves the biology and ecology of these arthropod pests and the disease-causing organisms they carry. His dissertation research involved the interaction between insecticide formulations and litter amendments, also known as litter acidifiers, and how it impacted the mortality of the lesser mealworm beetle to gain a better understanding of how these compounds would behave inside a broiler house. He also examined how sub-lethal exposure to insecticide formulations impacts the fecundity of the lesser mealworm. Dr. Lyons brings his enthusiasm for insecticide resistance, control tactics, and insecticide induced hormesis will continue his research on these topics in his role here at Texas A&M University.
