Jose Santiago-Gonzalez

José C. Santiago-González, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor & Extension Specialist in Entomology at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Amarillo, TX. He is interested in the sustainable management of economical pests of important field crops grown in the Texas High Plains such as corn, cotton, sorghum, and wheat. His field-applied research encompasses the potentiation of control tactics within the integrated pest management approach (IPM). Those may include the use of habitat manipulation, pesticide products, and different sources of host plant resistance to determine its effects on the biology of pests, natural enemy’s populations, and crop performance. He is also interested in researching the evolution of resistance in crop pests to widely adopted insecticidal products. Dr. Santiago-González has a 100% Extension appointment, and his work is tailored to support crop producers in managing pest problems while helping to increase the profitability of their operations in the Texas panhandle region.
