Professional Summary

José C. Santiago-González, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor & Extension Specialist in Entomology at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Corpus Christi, TX. His work focuses on the sustainable management of economically important pests affecting major field crops in the Coastal Bend of Texas, including corn, cotton, sorghum, and pastures for grazing and hay production. His applied research emphasizes integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, exploring control tactics such as habitat manipulation, pesticide applications, and host plant resistance. These efforts aim to assess their impact on pest biology, natural enemy populations, and crop performance. Additionally, he investigates the evolution of insecticide resistance in crop pests to widely used products.
Dr. Santiago-González holds a 75% Extension and 25% Research appointment, tailoring his programs to help producers manage pest challenges while improving profitability in the Coastal Bend region.
